French dining at Topshelf @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur

Topshelf is a French restaurant located in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur. Always wanted to try out this place but don't have chance until the Christmas eve night when I happen to be there with my mom. The food were good and some dishes above expectation. This is a nice and cosy restaurant. You can see the chef in action as the kitchen just behind a glass wall.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. I like two of their dishes the most. The pan seared salmon belly and mushroom soup with truffle. Both are well done and taste very good. As for the crispy aromatic duck, its not that crispy but the meat is tender. Taste wise is good with combination with the sauce and vegetables. The dessert of dark chocolate mousse is creative and well thought).
Price:3/10(Expensive. Since this is a fine dining restaurant, the price is at a higher side. Salmon belly at MYR30.00, mushroom soup with truffle at MYR25.00, pan seared catch of the day at MYR44.00, dark chocolate mousse at MYR26.00 and crispy aromatic duck at MYR38.00. Service and environment in the restaurant is good. One item which I think that they need to improve is that they don't provide plain water as drink option. They trying to lure their customer to drink their pricey mineral water. Its a bit let down for foodie who come here for food and plain water is the most basic necessity that each restaurant should provide either for free or with a small fee. The food selection were not many during Christmas eve as they have predefined set menu).

Porky lunch set at The Barn @ Citta Mall, Ara Damansara

The Barn open its 4th outlet in Citta Mall recently. I think its a good move since Citta Mall lack of drinking and pork eating place. With many high end residences around the area and expatriates, there are demand for such restaurant. Looks like this will be my favourite eating place. On the second day of opening, we try out their executive lunch set. Good ambiance for business lunch and to chill out.

Taste:8/10(Good. I had their bak kut teh. Its not bad for a Western restaurant to serve bak kut teh. The meat is tender and good. Taste wise is good but of course cannot beat Klang bak kut teh. The bak kut teh comes with all the necessary condiments such as garlic and chili padi. I tasted the fries, soup and salad. All good. The soup taste good but just a bit oily. Pork burger and fish & chips are delicious).
Price:6/10(Moderate. The promo lunch set is good deal and comes with free soup and salad. Lunch set from 12.00pm until 3.00pm. Lunch set price from MYR19.00 to MYR25. Steak set lunch price is higher. If you come in group, then you will have a better deal as you will get one lunch set free from 4 lunch set ordered).

Good place to eat and drink.

Nice bar.

Many seats arrangement to suit your needs.

Pork tomato soup.

Salad and fruits included as part of lunch set.

Salad area. Huge wines selection.

Claypot bak kut teh.

The bak kut teh order comes with rice, garlic and chili.

Bak kut teh comes with many parts of meat.

Fish & chips portion is big.

Pork and bacon burger. The fries taste good as well.

Yummy pork burger with charcoal bread.

Rock Chop food delivery

Rock Chop is a new food delivery option in Klang Valley. I am among their first customer to try out this food option. Rock Chop is actually a budget option of dahmakan. Its a bit hard for dahmakan to drop their price since they have probably sold many food packages and its better for them to cater for more premium market segment. The new Rock Chop food quality however, is not up to my expectation. The price is slightly lower about RM15 which is RM6 less, but the food options are mostly fried, less healthy and lesser quality when compared to dahmakan. The food options are not interesting and can be easily get from the economical rice stalls. The options that they have are salted butter chicken, kung pao chicken, sweet & sour chicken, orange chicken and cashew chicken.

Taste:5/10(So-so. The salted butter chicken ordered were soggy and oily. Cheese cake were watery at the bottom. Taste rather normal and nothing to shout about).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. The quality of food is under expectation. For RM15 meal, the food quality is far lesser when compared to dahmakan. Most of the menu are fried which I doubt the freshness of the ingredients used. No vegetable option from the menu is also a drawback. Quantity wise is good).

Ordered Rock Chop salted butter chicken. Simpler packaging compared to dahmakan.

Presentation wise is ok. I do like the bigger rice portion.

Chicken however a bit soggy and taste normal.

Come with free cheese cake which is watery at the bottom.

dahmakan food delivery - easy lunch option

Food delivery option has become a norm in the Klang Valley area due to busy schedule of office workers and demand of healthier food options. The main selling points of DahMakan is on using fresh local sourced ingredients, tasty dishes, convenience of ordering via web or apps and delivery up to your doorstep. Indeed they have talented chefs preparing the food as well which adds creativity to the meals created and taste good.

Taste:8/10(Delicious. I like the taste and the quality of the food items that I ordered so far. It's something different to have it once in a while. For example the Moroccan were cooked in a lot of tomatoes which makes the chicken tender, taste good and healthier option as without coconut milk).
Price:5/10(Near expensive. The quality and the food serving portion were good. However, spending over MYR20.00 for lunch is quite high for everyday consumption. Would suggest that DahMakan don't provide very fancy packaging and high quality spoon/fork to reduce the cost. Anyway, we are going towards green environment. High quality spoon and fork should be as add on item).

Red colour box.

First time ordered dahmakan. Chef's healthy chicken rendang. I am quite satisfied with the portion and the chicken rendang are tasty. Indeed a tummy full meal. Enjoyed MYR8.00 off as first time order.

Blue colour box.

This is fish meal with couscous grain. Harissa crusted perch. Enjoyed MYR5.00 off from Grab Taxi discount code.

Yellow colour box.

Moroccan chicken with vegetables. The Moroccan chicken cooked with tomatoes does indeed delicious. I quite like the taste. Healthy option without coconut milk.

Download DahMakan apps via Google Play/Apple Store. Order the food from the apps and you can either pay upfront by credit card/direct debit/PayPal or by cash when the food delivered to you. Also available for booking via DahMakan website.

Berjaya Sports Toto AGM 2017 at Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort, Kuala Lumpur

Berjaya Sports Toto AGM 2017 was held in Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort. Indeed all the Berjaya group of companies AGM were held here. This is among the longest AGM that I attended. Many questions were asked and the share holders provided many good suggestions. This AGM is a bit gloomy as the company does not perform well over the last few quarters. Gambling is considered as sunset industry and the only catalyst now is online betting. The management blame it on the illegal number forecast operator (NFO) and the current regulation does not have high punishment to these illegal NFO. Indeed the CEO seems a bit lose of hope to tackle the issue. Furthermore, gaming is rather a sensitive issue in Malaysia. However, the share holders give some ideas:
1. Introduce and strengthen their jackpot and lotto game since the illegal NFO does not have these kind of games and they are not able to provide huge payout.
2. Online 4D and Jackpot gambling. The company is still working of getting the approval from Ministry of Finance.
3. Dispose of non related business in Berjaya Toto balance sheet. Over the years, the company has become mixed up by acquiring too many unrelated business assets.

I don't really encourage gambling but this company business is a cash cow business and provide quite a decent dividend. Good for longer term investor if the company begins to turn around.

Berjaya Sports Toto AGM 2017. Good session with plenty of questions and answers. The style of poll conducted via this AGM is old fashioned. Still using manual paper for voting. The presentation slides also looks dated. Perhaps they need to do some new look rebranding. Its also tough for this company to do marketing as they are not allowed to advertise publicly.

Queue to collect breakfast.

As expected, Kenny Rogers set. Roasted chicken with muffins and sausages.

Drinking water.

View of Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort.

Berjaya Sports Toto does not provide any door gift as they already sent Berjaya group discount vouchers to all their share holders earlier. You can have free Starbucks coffee, Kenny Rogers, Borders book store discount voucher, Wendys and discounted hotel stay.

This is not a recommendation of buy or sell Berjaya Sports Toto stock. If you do buy the company share after you read this, you are doing it at your own risk.

Affin Holdings EGM 2017 in Royale Chulan, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

Recently attended a few companies AGM/EGM and I will start reviewing the Malaysian companies AGM/EGM on their food provided, free gift and of course to gain understanding of the company business. The company EGM is about reorganization of Affin Holdings to Affin Bank. Again I am the minority of the young people joining this event :-p

Board of directors taking their seats.

As usual not many people like to sit in front. I do learn a lot from the questions thrown by other share holders. Those senior share holders has a lot of understanding on their annual report and sometimes can trace small abnormality in the report.

Breakfast area.

Breakfast box. Muffins, croissant, hot dogs and water. Coffee and tea provided as well.

Benefit of accepting the proposal. As you can see, the proposal will reduce the NTA of the company as there are cost for the reorganization. However, in long run, there will be cost savings by having this type of reorganization. Example of benefits mentioned includes lower cost of borrowings and lower administrative cost. And of course by having this reorganization, they will need to cut their number of staffs too.

Registration.

Breakfast voucher and RM40 Royale Chulan voucher.

Electronic voting process begins.

I chose to take this buffet lunch as it worth it. Carvery Lunch at Royale Cafe.

Simple and nice table arrangement.

Formal dining. Suitable for business discussion.

Variety of salads.

Fruits and desserts.

Bread and buns.

Lamb.

Vegetables.

Beef.

Roasted chicken.

My lunch portion. Quite a good lunch.

This is not a recommendation of buy or sell Affin holding stock. If you do buy the company share after you read this, you are doing it at your own risk.
